Dear Owner/Trainer:

Thank you for your inquiry into the National H.B.P.A. Owners' and Trainers' Liability Program. Following is an application and a brief outline of coverage you requested. For your review, we have addressed some frequently asked questions about our program and coverage.

Please Note:

  • The National HBPA Owners & Trainers Liability Program is ONLY available to MEMBERS of the NHBPA and its state HBPA affiliates. In the event you are NOT a member, please include a separate check for $100 payable to the NHBPA for an Associate Membership fee; this is an annual fee.
  • For questions regarding your membership status, please call your local state affiliate HBPA where you run your horses or call the National HBPA at 1-866-245-1711.
  • In consideration of the coverage afforded by this policy, the insured agrees during the term thereof to remain a member in good standing of the National HBPA, Inc. and its state affiliates.
  • StarNet is rated "A" by Best & Company.
  • The program runs from November 1, 2007 to November 1, 2008. Renewal each year is subject to company approval.
  • The current rate for the 2007-2008 policy term is $90.00 per horse (3 or more) subject to $180.00 minimum premium (1-2 horses) on an annual basis. The rate for coverage after May 1st is $50.00 per horse subject to $100.00 minimum premium.
  • You must include all owned or trained horses in your calculation unless approved otherwise by Stone Lane, LLC.
  • What is the Equine Owners and Trainers Liability Insurance Program? - This is a policy designed to protect you from bodily injury or property damage liability claims or suits arising out of your horse activities (including breeding, racing, sales, and training).
  • Additional Coverage Highlights: Subject to the exclusions and conditions of the policy; Coverage is provided for:
    • Liability from bodily injury to participants (other than your employees) is covered. This insurance is not a substitute for workers' or workmen's compensation coverage and is not health or accident insurance for participants.
    • Liability you are required to assume under a written contract or agreement to indemnify or hold another harmless for horse activities.
    • Personal and advertising injury related to your horse activities.
    • This coverage is not a substitute for a farm liability and/or property policy. If you already have a farm liability policy with an equine activities endorsement, this insurance is limited to bodily injury to participants and applies as excess insurance to any other coverage afforded under the farm form.
  • Limits of Insurance - Each member additional insured has their own $1,000,000 coverage for each occurrence and $2,000,000 General Aggregate. Damage to premises rented to you or occupied by you with the permission of the owner is provided with a limit of $50,000. Medical Payments coverage applies as well in the amount of $5,000 per person.
  • Additional limits up to $25,000,000 maybe available through Fireman's Fund. Please contact our office.
